Thermal Preparation

Thermal Treatment Preparation Instructions:

In order to get ready for treatment, please do the following things before we arrive. The more thorough you prepare the more thorough the treatment the more successful the results.

  • Bedding must be removed and run through the dryer.
  • Move all furniture away from the walls at least 3 feet. This includes items in closets. It is extremely important that this is done prior to service.
  • Unplug all electrical items from outlets and remove all outlet covers and switch plates.
  • Turn off any alarms, sprinklers and any other fire suppression systems. Please contact your central station in regard to heat process.
  • Overall clutter must be reduced. Area should vacuumed prior to service and bag discarded.
  • Place linens, towels, folded clothing, folded blankets, afghans, etc. loosely into open-weave laundry baskets so that we can distribute heat to all portions of these articles. Do NOT place clothing or linens into plastic bags!

Please remove the following items from the premises, place in fridge or place in a box clearly labeled “Do Not Heat”(we will inspect these items for bedbugs and expose them to a controlled temperature for a short period of time if necessary).

  • All medications (prescriptions and over the counter) and cosmetics.
  • All alcohol, (including beer) vinegars and candles as well as other wax items must be put in the fridge or removed. Remove oil paintings as well.
  • Musical instruments can normally remain in treatment area, expensive or irreplaceable instruments should be removed however cases should remain.
  • All ink toner cartridges must be removed from printers and from treatment area.
  • Valuable items like cash, jewelry and personal electronics must be removed.
  • Anything that may react under pressure such as fire extinguishers, aerosols, ammunition, guns, canned soda, fireworks, perfumes/colognes & oxygen tanks, must be removed.

What to expect when you return.

  • Your house may still be warm upon return. Open windows turn on fans and AC as you would like.
  • Please note that during the treatment some items may need to be moved as indicated by monitoring heat sensors, which are placed throughout.
  • Muslin material may be removed from the underside of box springs and furniture.
  • You will notice that items aren't exactly the way you left them. That's because we moved things around in order to get even distribution of heat.
Should you have any questions or concerns please contact us at your earliest convenience so we may reply with ample time for proper preparation.
